PointCloud Solutions Consulting with Entreprenuer of the Year
Point Cloud Information January 30th, 2010Pennsylvania’s Bay City Orthocare is the bomb. Let me explain…Not to long ago they exploded…literally. Thanks to aging gas pipes in the basement the building that housed their entire operation was blown from its foundation rendering its orthopedic /prosthetic operations seriously impaired.
Bay City OrthoCare is committed to its work and has made a tremendous reputation for themselves in the medical community. Founded 7 years ago by Bill and Diane DeSarro, Bay City Orthocare provides orthopedic and prosthetic products that assist patients in rehabilitative care and aid in ambulation on a 24/7 basis. With a passion for excellent customer service, the employees of BCO had the business up and operating across the street within 6 hours of the explosion. BCO has rebuilt the facility and was able to expand services and laboratories to suit the needs of many more patients.
PointCloud Solutions is entering into a cooperative enterprise with BCO to determine the best practices for scanning patients in need of custom fit orthopedic appliances. The companies will produce a white paper with the intention of advancing the the acceptance of 3d Laser scanning as a methodology to enhance and expedite the labor surrounding the creation, fit and function of orthopedic appliances.
Currently Medicare does not have medical coding which would encompass the use of 3d scanning technology for any medical application. This means that insurance coverages are not available for the service despite its extreme utility in design/manufacture and fitting of the orthopedic devices. The process of acquiring such approval for coding is complex and burdensome. The Erie Pennsylvania Law Firm of Rohde and Jennings will front the legal effort to acquire the necessary approvals within Medicare.
A scanning suite will be constructed and a study of actual patient experiences and outcomes will be compared to non scanning related treatment regimens.
